The Honeywell 5809 is a wireless fixed heat and rate-of-rise temperature sensors offer expanded fire detection and installation flexibility. They are ideal for hard-to-wire locations and applications that require more than smoke detection. This is a fast and easy install with no wires to run. The 5809 detector combines both rate-of-rise and fixed temperature sensors. Due to the fact that fires typically cause a rapid rise in temperature in the surrounding area, the 5809 is designed to protect your property and loved ones. The 5809's rate-of-rise thermostat senses the rise in temperature and signals an alarm if the increase is 15°F (8°C)or more per minute. With a built-in fixed temperature sensor, it will also signal an alarm if the environmental temperature rises above 135°F (57°C). The 5809 is UL Listed (UL 521) and CSFM approved for commercial and residential applications.
The 5809 includes a tamper switch. If removed from its mounting base, a trouble signal is sent to the control panel. It is not recommended to install at a site where the ambient temperature exceeds 100°F (38°C) and is designed for indoor use only. If the fixed temperature sensor activates, the detector must be replaced. When the battery voltage drops below a threshold, a low battery signal is sent to the control panel. Remember, you will need to replace the battery when the system reports a low battery condition.
The maximum spacing recommended is 50 feet x 50 feet and UL recommends 30 feet x 30 feet spacing. Refer to NFPA 72 for application requirements. Also keep in mind, the 5809 will be permanently damaged if stored, shipped, or installed in environments where the temperature exceeds 100°F (38°C) and must be replaced. Heat detectors should be used for property protection. Reliance should not be placed soley on heat detectors for life safety. When life safety is involved, smoke detectors MUST also be used. Detectors MUST NOT be painted. Avoid mounting the detector near heat generating devices (e.g. ovens, heat vents, furnaces, boilers).
Contains a built-in transmitter which can send alarm, supervisory and battery condition messages to the system's receiver/control unit
Powered by a three-volt lithium battery. If the battery voltage gets too low, the 5809 sends a low battery signal to the control panel
Trips at 135°F or when the temperature rises more than 15°per minute
Mounts on ceiling or wall for maximum installation flexibility
Combines both rate-of-rise and fixed temperature sensors
Features a tamper switch, which causes a trouble signal to be sent to the control if the unit is removed from the mounting base
