The Honeywell GSMV4G is nearly identical to the original Honeywell GSMV cellular alarm communicator. The GSMV worked on the older 2G cellular network, however the GSMV4G is compatible with the newest 3/4G cellular networks. You can use the GSMV4G or the GSMX4G if you have a VISTA-Series alarm control panel and you want to upgrade to a cellular alarm communicator that will work on 3/4G cellular technology.
The GSM4G Cellular Communicator transmits signals to the AlarmNet Control Center (via a GSM cellular network), which in turn routes those signals to the AlarmClub central station. AlarmNet's 4G communicators are backwards compatible with 2G and 3G service. The IntelliPath™ feature enables the communicator to auto-select the optimum GSM path - 2G, 3G, or 4G.
The Basic features of the GSMV4G include:
1) Full Contact ID reporting using ECP mode with Honeywell control panels (or when used along with a DCID/DCID-EXT)
2) Dual-Path Technology uses HSPA+/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS (primary GSM path) and SMS (secondary or backup to the GSM path)
3) Upload/download of compatible Honeywell control panels
4) Web-based programming using the AlarmNet Direct website
5) Remote services capability; optional Total Connect remote services
6) Two-way voice transport provides two-way voice over GSM (see note below)
7) Transformer (16.5VAC 40VA) and battery included NOTE: Two-way voice via Alarmnet 4G communicators require the AVS base station to be at revision 1.7 or higher. Two-way voice transport provides two-way voice over GSM via AlarmNet services when used with Honeywell's Audio Verification System (AVS). Your panel must support the AVS module in addressable mode for two-way voice over GSM.
All AlarmNet® cellular alarm communicators use SIM cards that utilize the AT&T® cellular network. As cellular alarm communicators don't have the same data and speed requirements that cell phones have, Honeywell manufactured all previous cellular alarm communicators to work on the older 2G cellular network. Unfortunately, as cell phones have gone from devices used to make calls and send text messages to advanced hand held computers that can stream video and send large amounts of data back and forth in seconds, the cellular carriers are doing everything they can to maximize their networks to keep up with the increased data demands. AT&T has found that the best solution to free up space on the advanced 3G and 4G networks is to eliminate the older 2G network. Fortunately, Honeywell always has an eye on the future and has released 4G capable cellular alarm communicators, like the GSMV4G, well in advance of the end of the 2G cellular network. You don't need a 3/4G cellular communicator today, but by upgrading to one, you are making an investment for the future.
Cellular alarm communications are the most reliable way to send your alarm signals to AlarmClub's central station for monitoring. You don't need a phone line or even an internet connection as the GSMV4G is a dedicated wireless link between your alarm control panel and the AlarmClub central station. The Honeywell GSMV4G cellular alarm communicator is compatible with nearly all VISTA-Series alarm control panels and can even be used with a Honeywell LYNX Plus wireless alarm control panel. The GSMV4G is also compatible with Honeywell AlarmNet's advanced Total Connect 2.0 interactive service so that you can remotely control your Honeywell security system from a computer or an iPhone®, iPad®, Blackberry® or Android™ compatible device. The Honeywell GSMV4G has all of the great features found in the original GSMV cellular alarm communicator but it also has the added advantage of being built to work well into the future on the latest and greatest 4G cellular network.
Honeywell cellular security systems are extremely versatile and secure! The ability to install a system and have it send signals without an internet or phone connection is a wonderful thing.
