The Honeywell LTEM-XA is a cellular AT&T LTE alarm communicator intended for use with the VISTA-Series hardwired control panels. The LTE-XV easily connects to Honeywell's VISTA-15P, VISTA-20P, VISTA-128BPT, and 250BPT control panels. The LTEM-XA is easy to install and sends alarm signals over the AT&T Cat M1 LTE cellular towers.
The CAT-M1 technology provides improved power efficiency and signal strength underground and within buildings. LTE CAT-M1 is available everywhere that current LTE networks reach with strong enough reception for consistent connections. If, for some reason the LTEM-XA communicator cannot establish a data connection over AT&T LTE, it will attempt to transmit over SMS. All signals are delivered to Honeywell's AlarmNet® Network Control Center, which routes the information to the AlarmClub central station. The state-of-the-art AlarmNet Network Control Center is fully redundant and monitored 24/7. AlarmNet then routes messages using AlarmNet-i and 800 PLUS services, providing true redundancy and multi-path message delivery.
Before installing the LTEM-XA, first ensure the compatible VISTA control panel has enough available power. The best method is to assess all the ECP devices and figure the total current draw. Then subtract that from the control panel's maximum aux power current. This will give you the available power for the communicator and help determine if an auxiliary power supply is needed. The LTEM-XA communicator requires 12VDC @ 105mA to power up. If the control panel does not have enough power, you must add an aux power supply such as the Resideo AD12612 auxiliary power supply, 1361 transformer and 12V 4Ah backup battery. Please not that when using an auxiliary power supply to ensure the negative output of the auxiliary power supply is connected to the negative Aux Power terminal in the control panel.
Upon the initial LTEM-XA communicator power up, a network initialization sequence begins. This sequence may take up to 15 minutes. Do not reset power during this initialization time. After the communicator has completed the network initialization, subsequent resets or power ups can take up to 90 seconds. During initial power up, the LTEM-XA communicator LEDs blink in sequence from top to bottom while it establishes a network connection. The green REG LED then lights solids while the red FAULT LED lights solid on or flashes rapidly (if module not connected to the control panel), indicating the final stages of initialization. Do not reset power during this time. When LTEM-XA initialization is complete, the blinking sequence stops and the signal strength LED lights solid (the yellow and red LEDs may also be blinking, per their respective functions).
When choosing a suitable mounting location, understand the LTEM-XA must be mounted indoors and for best signal strength it should be mounted vertically. Signal strength is very important for proper orientation. For most installations, mounting the unit on the control panel provides adequate AT&T signal strength and we suggest that this method is tried first. Especially, if the VISTA-Series control panel is not in a basement location or in an area that contains large metal objects. If the control panel location does not provide adequate signal strength, then the LTEM-XA can be mounted remotely.
The LTEM-XA communicator uses 256-bit AES encryption which is required for certain government installations. The AlarmNet-i AES Encryption Software Module Version 1.0 contained in the Resideo products has NIST approval. Using the LTEM-XA with a compatible VISTA-Series control panel revision you can add Total Connect TC2.0 Remote Services. Check the product carton for a blue "TC2 Read" label or on the PCB board verify the PROM lable indicates the necessary revision numbers. Please read the LTEM-XA product compatibility tab for more panel requirements.
